First!

What is a Beehive?

A hive is a structure with densely packed cells built by bees to serve as the house. The structure takes on the hexagon shape and contains many cells made from honeycomb and propolis. The propolis, made from tree buds, are used to fill the cell’s holes and seal the honeycomb.

Inside the cells of the beehive, bees like to store their leftover food, including honey, pollen grains, and offspring of the queen in the life cycle of insects, such as eggs and larvae.

The propolis, which covers part of the beehive cells, also embalm any invaders or insects that come to the beehive. When predators enter a beehive, bees sting it and use propolis to embalm it so that decomposition won’t occur. This is because decomposition can pose health risks to the life of the whole colony of bees.

What To Do If You Find Beehive On Your Property

If you happen to find a beehive on your property, you are wondering how on earth it gets there. Many might instantly be filled up with anxiety and may not be able to think through and know what to do. Here, I’ve listed what you can do to stay safe and also ensure that the people around you also stay safe.

You can apply the same guideline if you find a beehive on public property where many people are involved. Thereby, you save the health of others.

1. Do not Touch the Beehive

Don’t be tempted to handle the problem of removing beehives by yourself. Avoid reading books at a point where you have to show what I’ve read when it comes to removing beehives. If you do, and you don’t handle it correctly, you might scatter the bees, which might sting a person that is allergic to bees; you would have a higher problem to manage because of this type of person. They might even sting you and anyone else. Considering the danger involved in handling beehive removal, you wouldn’t try doing it yourself.

2. Make Notice to Others

Once you have noticed the presence of the beehive around, the next thing is to notify others around that vicinity so that they could be aware and stay away accordingly. If the beehive is on your property, tell the people living inside your house about the situation and ensure they stay away not to get hurt. And if the beehive is on public property, let it be known to the head of the property so that they can best prevent people from being stung.

3. Alert a Professional Pest Control

Now that you have put yourself and others in a safe condition, the next thing is to kindly call a professional pest control group. They would have the needed instrument, skills, and experience to safely remove beehives from your property without letting them go abroad and stinging people. When you call the pest control professional, they will get to you very quickly and attend to your property so that the situation doesn’t grow bigger.
